South Carolina's Premier Homebrew Club
Proudly Presents the
10th Annual Palmetto
State Brewers' Open
December 6, 2008
********************************************************************************************************
PSBO10 will
be the final competition in the "Carolinas Brewer of the Year" circuit for 2008.
Entries in all AHA/BJCP categories will be judged according to the BJCP style guidelines.
Palmetto State Brewers
is once again pleased to have been chosen as a qualifying competition for the
Masters' Championship of Amateur
Brewing (the MCAB) XI. Winners of 1st place in BJCP categories
1-19 and 22 will be eligible for the MCAB national competition.
Location
Again this year, for the seventh
time, our friends at Jaderloon and
Conway Press have made their facility
available to us. Without their continued support the PSBO would never have
grown as it has nor would the quality of the experience for participants even
approach its current level. Please visit their sites. Your company
or even you may find things you need. Highest quality and good pricing.

Entries
Entries will be accepted in all BJCP/AHA
categories
beginning October 1,2008. The entry
(registration and payment) deadline is
November 24,2008. All entries (the
bottles) must be received by the registrar or drop-off point no later than
November 24,2008.
No entries will be accepted after these dates.
Use the on-line registration
form
1. All entries,
are
$6.00 in USA funds.
Make checks to: Palmetto State Brewers
2. Beer bottles must be 7-16
oz. Mead/cider may be submitted in bottles up to 750ml. Bottles should have no marks
which
(in the sole, final, opinion of the chief judge) might identify the brewer to a
judge. They should be brown or green. Colorless bottles
should not be used. Long-necks preferred. They should be closed with crown
caps or well-secured corks (mead, cider and really weird beers only).
Entries in swing-capped bottles will not be judged. Markings on caps must be completely 'blacked
out'.
3. DO NOT send entries by
the US Postal Service. It is illegal to ship alcohol by USPS.
Use a commercial carrier.
4. Submit a minimum of two bottles for each entry (see below).
One 16 oz. or 750ml bottle of mead/cider is
acceptable.
It is likely that there will be
mini-best-of-show rounds for many beer categories especially APA, IPA, porter
and stout. If you think an entry in any potentially highly competitive category is likely to
do well, we suggest an optional third bottle to assure sufficient beer for all rounds.
This decision is up to the brewer and the consequences are theirs. A third bottle for meads and ciders will not be needed.
